NSA-H Chaplain Mission Statement:
The position of the chapter chaplain exists primarily to provide pastoral care and serve as a spiritual resource to the chapter members and family. Therefore, the chaplain is a resource to address spiritual needs on both the individual and institutional levels. In terms of individual pastoral care, the chaplain offers support, prayer, consolation, and spiritual guidance to chapter members and their families. Situations that call for pastoral care and visitation can include personal illness, death or illness of a family member, and personal and family crises. In terms of institutional duties, the chaplain advises the CEB on spiritual, ethical, moral, morale, and religious accommodation issues. Religious accommodation is defined as the NSA-H CEB’s support of its member’s constitutional “free exercise” right to their individual religious belief – including those who hold no religious faith.
NSA-H Chaplain capabilities include:
- CARING for our members with dignity, compassion, and dignity regardless of the member, or family member’s religious belief.
- AVAILABLE for the spiritual needs of our members and their families. For issues beyond the scope of the chaplain’s abilities; to help the member find the right help.
- ADVISE the CEB on the moral, ethical, spiritual issues that affect the chapter.
The NSA-H Chaplain is not a trained, or licensed professional counselor and is limited in scope.
